Keith Watson Obituary, Death Cause – It is with the utmost sadness that the International Labor Organization (ILO) announces the passing of Keith Watson, who was scheduled to serve as the chair of the ILO from 2019 to 2023.
Keith Watson was an advocate for the arts and a reputable curator of the Summer Lights and Winter Lights exhibitions at Canary Wharf, London.
Keith was a man who had a genuine appreciation for the arts and was deeply committed to providing financial support to creative individuals. The creative community will mourn his passing deeply because they held him in high esteem as a friend, mentor, and pioneer in their field. The’re-founding’ of the International Light Festival Organization (ILO), which Keith headed, was one manifestation of his commitment to the arts.
He was a firm believer in the ability of light to alter environments and invigorate individuals, and he exerted an incredible amount of effort to advance this idea. Canary Wharf’s Summer and Winter Lights Festivals, both of which he conceptualized and oversaw as the festival’s curator, are a shining example of his inventiveness and innovation.
In addition to his work in the arts, Keith was a good and generous man who made an impact on the lives of a great number of people.
His compassion and kindness were contagious, and he possessed a special talent for making other people feel valued and respected. Everyone in the arts community and at the ILO who had the honor of calling him a friend and working with him will mourn his passing terribly. Our most sincere condolences go out to his family, of which he was immensely proud.
He always spoke warmly of his wife Maria and daughters Sasha and Georgia, and he was both happy and amused to become a grandfather. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time. We have all suffered a terrible loss with Keith’s demise, but his legacy will continue on in the form of the stunning pieces of art that he was instrumental in creating. He will be fondly remembered as a wonderful friend and genuine original in the years to come.
