Lydia Ann Obituary, Death Cause – On May 4, 2023, dedicated mother LYDIA ANN HUANG (), age 92, passed away quietly. She was the mother of Lester, Alison, Peter, Mark, and Gerald; lovely mother-in-law of Mary, William Westgate, Laura, and Genevieve; and adoring grandma of Keith, Derek, Leah, Gavin, and Crispin. LYDIA ANN HUANG () was a character from the Chinese character for “love.”
Lydia Huang was a beloved educator at Maryknoll Convent School (Secondary Section) beginning in 1965. Her numerous pupils referred to her with the endearing title of “Madame” during her tenure there. She was the first lay person to serve in the role of Principal of MCS Secondary and Supervisor of MCS Primary throughout her tenure.
St. Joseph’s Church, located at 37 Garden Road in the Central district of Hong Kong, will play host to the funeral service on Monday, May 15th, 2023. A funeral mass will be held at 1.30 pm, presided over by the Most Reverend Stephen Chow Sau Yan, S.J., Bishop of Hong Kong, for the purpose of praying for the repose of her soul.
The body will then be cremated at the Wo Hop Shek Crematorium after the funeral mass. Family members will begin receiving friends and relatives at 1 pm. Because there is a restriction on the amount of space that can be taken up in the church, the family has asked that in lieu of sending flowers, a memorial gift be made to the Maryknoll Convent School Educational Trust. Checks payable in Hong Kong dollars should be mailed to the Maryknoll Convent School Educational Trust and addressed to Pat Ling at the MCS Secondary School located at 5 Ho Tung Road in Kowloon.
