Andrew Gibson Obituary, Death Cause – A Gig for Gibbo Andrew “Gibbo” Gibson had just turned 54 years old when he was given a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer; regrettably, he passed away less than 20 weeks after receiving the diagnosis. Every year, pancreatic cancer strikes the lives of tens of thousands of Australian families. Gibbo’s dying desire was to raise money for research into pancreatic cancer in the hopes that it will one day be able to save other families from the anguish and agony he experienced.
In February of 2023, Gibbo’s loved ones and friends got together to throw a benefit concert called “A Gig for Gibbo” to raise money for Peter Mac. The evening featured live performances by Cupid in Denim and Queen Rocks, a band that pays tribute to Queen. In addition, there was a silent auction, as well as food and drinks. In honor of Andrew’s memory, a concert called A Gig for Gibbo raised an astonishing $85,511 towards research into pancreatic cancer.
A short while ago, Gibbo’s wife Helen and their three daughters came to see us here at Peter Mac to take a tour of the labs where important cancer research is being conducted on a daily basis. We are grateful to them for their support and the incredible amount of money they have raised to contribute to cancer research.
