Tommy Cumming Obituary, Death – Inverness Following a courageous battle with a prolonged illness, Caledonian Thistle is devastated to share the news that its longtime and highly loved groundsman, Tommy Cumming, has passed away. Tommy served the club for many years. At the age of 77, Tommy died away while receiving compassionate care from the staff at the Highland Hospice. Thomas and Gary were Tommy and Margaret’s kids, and they were the result of their union.

There will be a minute of applause in recognition of Tommy’s genuinely exceptional contribution to the club. Arm bands of a dark color will also be worn by the players.
Tommy’s first active engagement in the game came in the early 1970s when he was appointed groundsman at Grant Street Park, Inverness, which is the home of Clachnacuddin FC. Tommy is originally from Geddes, which is located near Nairn. Soon after, he relocated to Telford Street in Inverness, the location of Caledonian Football Club, where he worked as a groundsman and kitman for the next two decades. Tommy became a member of the newly formed club in 1994, following the merger of Caledonian and Inverness Thistle, and has been a member ever since. He is responsible for maintaining the field at Caledonian Stadium, as well as, more recently, the club’s training fields in Fort George.

In addition, he is survived by his eight grandchildren: Thomas, Adam, Maisie, Mhairi, Caitlin, Lewis, Melanie, and Seb.
