Dagny Chaney Obituary, Death Cause – Dagny Chaney passed away on January 11th, 2023 at the Touro Medical Center. All of those who loved her and were motivated by the courage, humor, and joy she brought to each day are left with a profound void in their hearts as a result of her untimely passing.
On February 11th, 1948 in Honolulu, Hawaii, Dagny was the first daughter and the second child to be born to Rosella Vivian Retallick and Fred Lawrence Kriedt. Dagny’s birth took place. After the first daughter was born, the family left their idyllic island home and relocated to New Orleans, where they bought a beautiful mansion on Dryades Street. A few years later, they welcomed their second daughter into the world.
Dagny’s development into a witty, creative, light-hearted, and musical young woman was heavily influenced by the fact that she grew up in a chaotic family filled with laughter and song. As a result of these influences, she became one of the three siblings. She learned to play the guitar and sing after becoming interested in the music of Peter, Paul, and Mary and eventually formed a trio in high school that performed regularly at Cosimo’s.
She began her education at HW Allen Grammar School, continued her education at McMain Middle School, and ultimately earned her diploma from Fortier High School in 1966. Following the trend of the 1960s, Dagny shifted her focus westward and relocated from New Orleans to San Francisco. There, she found work with a private investigation firm and shared a home with a vivacious community of New Orleans natives who had relocated there.
She remained in the San Francisco region for the following 45 years, where she maintained close relationships with her friends and family, which included a sizable number of cousins, aunts, and uncles. She wed Mike Flanagan in 1974, and two years later, in 1976, she became a mother for the first time to her son Darren. After another four years, in 1980, she gave birth to her second son, Geoffery.
