Jey Guerra Obituary, Death – Jey passed away yesterday morning in the company of his loved ones after a courageous but brief battle with cancer. He was surrounded by those who were closest to him.
We are aware that the majority of you, along with your children, will be upset by this news. Jey worked diligently and in silence behind the scenes to make sure that everyone in our community had the proper care and assistance they needed throughout each and every school day.
Jey Guerra, a member of our facilities team who was deeply cherished by both his coworkers and the school’s families, has died away, as we have informed the faculty, staff, and families of the school.
He made sure that our gym was always ready for Mass on Friday mornings, he took amazing care of our beautiful school grounds, and he was dedicated in assisting our children and faculty in the lunchroom every day. He also took excellent care of our school grounds.
After school, you could find him cleaning up for the next day so that the students would arrive to buildings that had been lovingly prepared for them each morning.
Jey was a dependable person who oozed enthusiasm and a sense of fun. It will be really difficult to get used to not having him around campus.
We are grateful that you have included Jey, his immediate family, as well as his friends and classmates, in your prayers. This was his dream school, and our school cherished having him here.
Being a part of this unique St. Gabriel’s community is more meaningful and important than it has ever been in times like these, when the community needs its members the most.
According to the requests of his mother, there will be no memorial services held here in Austin; nevertheless, a Mass will be held in his honor on Friday, April 21.
