Jim Bieker Obituary, Death –On May 19th, 1961, Captain Bieker came into the world in the city of Portland, Oregon, in the United States of America. After much deliberation, it was agreed that he would take on the responsibilities of First Officer. Jim had spent his whole life in Oregon, where he was strongly involved in a wide variety of aspects of the local community.

We are sorry to inform you of the passing of former Portland Fire and Rescue Department Captain Jim Bieker. Jim served in that capacity for many years. This decision was made with a heavy feeling in our hearts. We are forced to tell you the news at this time, and doing so fills us with a sense of profound remorse.

These included his dedicated family, his church, his thriving business, and, of course, the fire department. Jim died in a fire in Oregon. Jim was 71 years old when he passed away in Oregon due to injuries sustained in a fire. On July 6, 1981, when he began working for PF&R, he simultaneously became a member of the fire service and began his career as a firefighter.

On December 31, 2018, he decided to retire from the fire service, where he had worked for a combined total of 38 years before reaching that point in his career. Jim lost his battle with cancer on April 14, 2023, following a protracted and challenging fight against the disease. He died peacefully in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by the family and friends whose company he cherished the most during his life.

He had no physical pain in his final moments. After his passing, the only members of his family who are still alive are his wife, the couple’s four children, and the couple’s four grandchildren. His wife predeceased him. He has a wife and children, all of whom he will be unable to bring with him.
