Calgary Motorcycle Accident – The accident occurred on Stoney Trail. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, but he did not survive his stay there. Volunteers and staff at the Veterans Association Food Bank (VAFD), where Gilman volunteered before becoming a client, are attempting to make sense of the tragedy.

It is said that Todd Gilman was a devoted member of the community, a loyal friend, and an animal and vehicle enthusiast who cherished both his dog and his motorcycle. On April 15, Gilman was riding his motorbike when he crossed the fog median, collided with a post, and was thrown from his bike, resulting in his death.
According to Redeker, Gilman was honest about who he was and did not put on any pretenses about who he was. Redeker stated that Gilman would do anything to assist his brothers and sisters with whom he served, which some people thought to be threatening.
However, Redeker added that Gilman would do anything to assist them. “He was one of those people who, if you were struggling yourself and you just needed to talk to somebody, you could pick up the phone and call him, and he’d be there to listen,” Redeker said. “He was one of those people who was like that.”
The passing of Gilman has also had an effect on the biker culture in Calgary. It is said to be a close-knit community that is now making preparations to hold a memorial ride in honor of the person they refer to as “Big Red. He never backed down from anything, and you knew his opinion all the time,” said Ashlee Taylor, the founder of One Broken Biker, with a grin.
