He began his military career by enlisting in the United States Army and went on to complete a total of 12 years of service in that branch of the armed forces before being honorably discharged in the year 1987. Before she finally decided to call it quits in 2018, Virginia Springsteen had racked up a cumulative total of 41 years of service for the United States government. She began her professional life at the White Sands Missile Range and worked there for the first 10 years of her career.
