Samuel Brown Obituary, Death – Samuel David “Sam” Brown, who was 64 years old, passed away in the Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka on the 27th of December, 2022. He was the son of Leo S. and Phyllis M. (Forpahl) Brown and was born in Garden City on February 17, 1958. His full name is Leo S. and Phyllis M. (Brown) Brown. The wedding took place on March 14, 1987 in Dighton and was attended by Tammy Corter.
During his formative years, Sam was an active member of the Boy Scouts and a student at the Dighton schools. After finishing his education, he enlisted in the Army National Guard and spent the next eight years serving his country. During that time, he also worked as a farm worker in Lane County, primarily for Nelson Schwartz. He was a passionate supporter of the Kansas City Chiefs and played the game of cribbage in his spare time.
His two sons, Norman Oscar Brown of Huron Lake, Minnesota, and Tyler Golden & Crystal Brown of Scott City, as well as his mother, Phyllis Woodham of El Dorado, two brothers, Max & Pam Brown and Barry & Melanie Brown, both of El Dorado, his sister Danna & Phil Steffens of Scott City, four grandchildren named Chloe, Forrest, Carlos, and Tyler, as well as five nephews and three nieces, are among those who will miss him. His father, Leo Brown, and his brothers, Dean Brown and Bradley Brown, both passed away before him.
The Reverend Darrin Hammond will preside over the funeral service that will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM at the Boomhower Funeral Home in Dighton. The interment will take place at the Healy Cemetery in Healy. At the memorial service for Sam, the family requests that you honor him by dressing in Kansas City Chiefs gear or colors. It is advised that memorial contributions be made to the Sam Brown Memorial Fund, care of the Boomhower Funeral Home.
