Nathaniel Thomas Obituary, Death Cause – He retired after 33 years of service from the Federal Aviation Administration, where he had worked as a teletype technician. He belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and the Chickasaw Nation Warrior Society, among other organizations. Over the course of more than 40 years, Nathaniel was the chaplain for the Blanchard VFW Post #3608 and over the course of more than 20 years, he was the chaplain for the American Legion Post #261.

Nathaniel Thomas, who was 93 years old and from Wisconsin, passed away on April 15, 2023 at his residence. Born on August 17, 1926 in Eufaula, Oklahoma, he was the son of Armstrong Thomas and Lela Mae (Shinogee) Thomas. He was named after his mother. Nathaniel was a veteran who had served in the United States Navy during World War II. Nathaniel tied the knot with LoEva Roberts on October 10, 1947, and she passed away eight years before he did, on January 8, 2007.

In addition to that, he spent the better part of three decades working as a volunteer chaplain at the Norman Veterans Center and the Oklahoma City VA Hospital. Nathaniel spent over 71 years in the ministry working as a pastor and chaplain, during which time he had an impact on an incalculable number of people’s lives. Everyone who had the pleasure of his company will remember him fondly. During his free time, he enjoyed watching Oklahoma University football games as well as the Oklahoma City Thunder. The activities at his grandchildren’s schools and sporting events, as well as quality time spent with his family, provided him with the greatest satisfaction. His parents, his wife LoEva Thomas, and his son Samuel Thomas all passed away before he did. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
