Howard Smith Obituary, Death – It is with deep regret that we must inform you of the passing of one of Bloodview’s original cast members, who was also among our most cherished performers. John Lorin Bingham was the man On April 12, 2023, John Lorin Bingham, a dedicated husband and father who had lived to be 88 years old, passed away. John was born in Akron, Ohio, and went to Kent State University, which is where he met his wife Barbara Goodall, whom he has been married to for the past 65 years.
They were ultimately blessed with three sons, all of whom were born and raised in Broadview Heights, Ohio. John spent his whole working life in the pharmaceutical industry, where he held several sales positions. Volunteering in the community was a big part of his life, and he was very involved with the Broadview Heights Lions Club. He was President of the club from 1983 to 1984, Lion of the Year in 1982, and a Melvin Jones Honoree in 1991. In addition, he was instrumental in the creation of the Bloodview Haunted House, which is the club’s oldest fundraiser.
As a member of the cast of the Bloodview Haunted House, John played the character “Booger,” which ironically became a source of pride for his sons. John was responsible for scaring a large number of guests who visited the haunted house. John cherished activities such as reading, writing, playing cards and tennis, as well as spending time with his family and friends. In 2017, he and his wife uprooted their lives and moved to Cary, North Carolina, to be nearer to their families. He is survived by his wife Barbara, sons Arthur (who is married to Naoko), John (who is married to Wendy), and David (who is married to Melissa), as well as six grandchildren (Casey, Hanna, Evan, Molly, Cooper, and Tallulah) and one great-grandchild (Rowan).
