Donald Hymers Obituary, Death – Donald Glen Hymers, age 69, of Monkton, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Listowel Memorial Hospital following a brief battle with sickness. The announcement of his departure was made by his family with a heavy heart. Don’s family, which includes his wife of 48 years, Bonnie (MacDougald), son Greg, daughter Jackie, and grandson Breckin, will miss him greatly. Bonnie Cluett and her sister Judy Dalcourt (Armel) are twins.
In addition to his sister Heather MacDougald (Ron), mother-in-law Noreen MacDougald, brother-in-law Ian MacDougald (Deb), and Rosemary MacDougald, he leaves behind a large number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He will be much missed. His parents, Glen and June (Schade), passed away in 2000 and 1985, respectively. His brother-in-law David (2015) and father-in-law Allan MacDougald (2008) also passed away before him.
Don cherished his family and spent as much time as he could outdoors with them, traveling from coast to coast. He was an avid fan of activities such as canoeing, hiking, fishing, and hunting in the great outdoors. After spending a significant portion of his working life in the transportation industry, he retired to a horse farm in the area of Monkton. He was a proud member of the North Perth Fire Department (Monkton Station) for 45 years and a lifelong member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Monkton, where he served for the entirety of his life.
On Monday, April 17, 2023, from 10:00 am to 10:45 am, friends and family can pay their respects at the Lockhart Funeral Home, which is located at 109 Montreal Street in Mitchell. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am. After the meeting, there will be a reception held at the Lockhart Reception Centre. Interment will take place during the spring at the Redeemer Lutheran Cemetery in Monkton. It would be very appreciated if memorial gifts could be sent to the Listowel Memorial Hospital or the North Perth Fire Department (Monkton Station). (In the near future, a link that will allow you to make a donation to the North Perth Fire Department will be available.)
