David Primmer Obituary, Death – On Wednesday, April 12, 2023, David Primmer passed away tranquilly in the comfort of his own home. He fought his long struggle with cancer in the same manner that he lived his life: with unaffected bravery, a cheerful perspective, and a genuine passion for living. His battle with cancer lasted for many years. David’s parents, Ross (1996) and Bunty (2011), as well as his nephew, also named David (2011), all passed away before him.
His sister Gail (Don), his wife Pat (Green), his daughters Lindsay (Eric), Kristin (Dave), and Paige, as well as his grandchildren Hannah, Hunter, and Harrison, all survive him. The passing of David will definitely be a source of sorrow for Pat’s family, which consists of her daughter Lori (and Calvin), her son Larry (and Renata), and their grandchildren. David Marshall Primmer was born on June 16 in Cardale, Manitoba, on the farm that his family owned at the time. By participating in the local 4-H garden club during his time there, he was able to accomplish a great deal of academic and social success, respectively.
Following the sale of the family farm in 1966, he relocated to Winnipeg and began his studies at the University of Manitoba the following year. David was a doting father to his three children, and he tried his best to instill in them the same bravery, practicality, persistence, and kindness that he had. Because he had so much expertise as a coach, he was able to serve as a teacher and a guide to a significant number of individuals. 2009 was the year when David handed in his resignation from his position as Chief Information Officer for the province of Manitoba.
It wasn’t until he and his wife Pat moved to Winnipeg Beach in 2010 that he was able to fulfill his lifelong ambition of constructing the workshop of his dreams. Working with wood, being of service to the community, and curling at the Winnipeg Beach Curling Club and the Lakeside Lions Club, both of which he was an active member of, were some of his favorite things to do in his spare time. Nothing made him happier than being able to spend time with his family, working on projects in the workshop he had in his garage, and tending to the garden he had in the rear.
