Bonnie Harkey Obituary, Death – When Bonnie Harkey unexpectedly passed away on March 27, 2012 in Leon County, Texas, she had lived in the city of San Saba, Texas, her entire life. She had reached the age of 85 at the time of her passing. Bonnie Sawyer Tubbs was brought into this world on July 23, 1926 as a direct result of the efforts that her parents, Joe Sawyer and Kitty Tubbs, put in to bring her into existence. Bonnie Sawyer Tubbs was the name given to her at birth.

In addition to serving as president of the Garden Club, a position she held not just once but twice during the course of her tenure in that role, she was also a member of the Wallace Creek Extension Club during that time. She conveyed her warm feelings of love and compassion to everyone she came in contact with by the caring and compassionate manner in which she interacted with others.

Bonnie was a member of the First Baptist Church in San Saba, which she referred to as her “spiritual home,” and she was quite committed in her attendance at that church. In addition to that, she was an active participant in the Baptist Women on a Mission, the Joy Sunday School Class, and the San Saba First Baptist Church, where she was a member of many committees and served in various leadership roles. In addition to that, she was an enthusiastic participant in the events held by these organizations.

She was a devoted member of the San Saba County Extension Education for forty-seven years, the Fellowship of Christian Women for forty-seven years, and the San Saba Garden Club for thirty years. All three organizations are named San Saba County Extension Education. She devoted her entire life to being a member of these three organizations and taking part in the activities they hosted.
