Steven Dunn Obituary, Death – After a long and courageous battle with frontotemporal dementia, Steven Hutson Dunn, who resided in Houston, Texas, passed away in the early morning hours of March 28, 2023. He was 63. Houston residents D. Camille and Ralph Orace Dunn Jr. welcomed three children into the world in 1959. Steven is the youngest of the three children. He graduated from The Kinkaid school in 1977 and attended the University of Texas, Austin where he graduated in 1982.
After receiving his medical degree from Baylor College in 1987 and subsequently completing an internship in ophthalmology in the city of Detroit, Michigan, Steven went on to become a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology in the year 1991. Before joining Vision America in San Antonio, Steven gained experience in the field of ophthalmology working with his father, Dr. Ralph Dunn, and his uncle, Dr. Rodney Hutson, both of whom ran their own offices.
There, he would spend time with cows, bulls, longhorns, and finally an excessive number of donkeys. Steve was the proud owner of an extensive collection of ranch equipment, which he used to move soil, clear cedar, construct roads, and do a variety of other varied ranch operations. He used the phrase “It sure beats paying a therapist!” as one of his mottos. In January of 2004, Steven wed Melynda, and the couple was later given the gift of a daughter, Camille Marie, in November 2004, followed by Molly Jane in February of 2008.
In the year 2001, Steven established his ophthalmology business at Houston Eye Associates, where he provides general services to his patients. Steve changed the course of many people’s lives not only through his skills in medicine and surgery but also by the spiritual direction he provided and the charitable work he did. Because of his affection for the Lone Star State, Steven moved to a tiny ranch in Vanderpool, Texas, located in the Texas Hill Country.
