Kenneth Smith Obituary, Death – We are deeply saddened to inform you of the passing of Kenneth (Ken) Smith, who served as a board member and previous executive director of PWSA | USA. Kenneth (Ken) Smith had a significant and long-lasting effect on our community. Kenneth Smith, who resided in Calgary, Alberta, fought cancer for a very short time before passing away on March 12th, 2023, at the age of 81 years old. On December 30th, 1941, Ken was brought into this world in Calgary, Alberta.
In July of 1963, he tied the knot with Carol Ann Baroldi. In 1963, he started a new career as a foreman for CP Rail, and he worked there until he retired in March of 2004. A day that will live in infamy since it was then that his life was transformed by the arrival of his one and only granddaughter, Ashleigh. Although Ken was not a particularly talkative person, when he did speak, people paid attention and valued the conversation he was having. You could have found yourself laughing at a joke or a remark that “slipped out” of your mouth every once in a while.
In addition to Carol, Ken is survived by his only son Kenneth Jr. (Kenny) Smith, his daughter-in-law Kirsten Smith, and his granddaughter Ashleigh. Ken was married to Carol for 67 years. Calgary, AB Peggy, Ken’s sister, who was married to Doug Deckinder, Ken’s brother-in-law, also lives in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. Ken is also survived by his sister. In addition to a large number of acquaintances, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. His sister Marilyn (O’Rourke) and brother-in-law Jim O’Rourke both passed away before Ken. Ken was also predeceased by his mother Olive and his father John Smith. a brother named Bernard (Bernie) Smith and his sister-in-law Marleen (Smith).
