Jewell Ball Obituary, Death –Jewell Brooks Ball, who had been battling illness for quite some time, finally succumbed to the illness and passed away on April 12, 2023, at the age of 88. She had been battling the ailment for quite some time. Despite the fact that Jewell was born in Bean Station, Tennessee, she spent the majority of her life in the town of Norton, Virginia. Norton is located in the state of Virginia. Her family includes her brother, Robert Brooks, as well as her parents, Clay and Mae Brooks.
And her beloved husband David Ball, whom she had been married to for 63 years before her own passing, was among those who before her in death. Jewell was married for 63 years, all of which were spent in blissful union. Mike Ball and Tina Ball, Jewell’s son and daughter-in-law, are the only family members she leaves behind.
who live in Norton; her daughter, Brook Davis, and her husband, Mark, who live in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and her grandchildren. Jewell is also survived by her grandkids Hannah Mann (and her husband Lee). Josh Ball, Corey Ball (and his wife Mackenzie), Raelyn Ball (and her husband Chris), Hagan Ball, Ashley Caudill (and her husband Jacob), and Aidan Gibson. Hannah Mann married Lee Mann. Corey Ball married Mackenzie Ball. Josh Ball married Raelyn Ball. In addition, Jewell is survived by a number of great-grandchildren, some of whom are named Harvest, Arrow, Carter, Ada, and Everett.
She is also survived by other members of Jewell’s extended family and friends who were very important to her during her life. In 1953, Jewell earned her high school certificate from what was then known as Norton High School and is now known as John I. Burton. When she attended Norton High School, she participated in the women’s basketball program during the era in which the game was still played on a half court.
Jewell was the epitome of a cultured Southern lady; she took enormous pleasure in her beauty and never missed an opportunity to dress to the nines. Jewell was the daughter of a wealthy plantation owner. In addition to her passion for cooking, she enjoyed hosting company and was especially well-known for the scrumptious pound cakes she made. She was the consummate hostess and delighted in entertaining guests of all kinds.
After spending his career at the United States Bureau of Mines in Norton, which is now known as the Mine Safety and Health Administration, Jewell made the decision to retire so that he could spend his time traveling, discovering new places, and meeting new people instead of working. Jewell, along with her longtime friends Shirley Campbell, Barbara Collins, Barbara Reed, and Phyllis Still, traveled frequently to Savannah.
