Robert Millar Obituary, Death – The unexpected death of Robert Millar took place on April 9, 2023, when he was 46 years old. It is with heavy hearts and great regret that Robert Millar’s family announces his loss. Rob, who was affectionately known as “Millar” by his wife Mary (née Hepburn), whom he had been married to for seventeen years, and his children Ewan and Bree, who were his entire world, will be sorely missed. A devoted son to his parents, Barry and Ann Millar.
Dear brother of Helen Millar-Pollock, who goes by the name Alan, and Alex Millar, who goes by the name Laurie. Robert and Joanne Hepburn’s son-in-law and heir apparent. David Hepburn’s brother and Jonathan Hepburn’s (Barb) brother-in-law, respectively. He is the uncle of Aidan, Chloe, and Bella, as well as Rhyan, Sam, and Georgia. Although Rob was born in Hamilton, Ontario, he spent his childhood in the nearby town of Grimsby and ultimately chose to raise his own family there. In addition to being a graduate of Mohawk College, he held the prestigious Red Seal certification for carpentry, and he spent a lot of years working in Northern Alberta.
He was also a member of the Local 18 Carpenters Union in Hamilton. Rob’s most recent academic endeavor at Brock University was toward the completion of his Master of Education degree in Construction Technology. It had long been a goal of his to “coast into retirement” by getting a job in a shop and using that position to share the expertise and experience he had gained over the course of his career with future generations. In his earlier years, he was an active member of the Grimsby Gentlemen Rugby Football Club, where he participated in sports such as rugby and soccer.
He was always thinking about the next adventure he could have with Mary and their children, and he especially enjoyed going places with them. Everyone who knew Rob was aware of his ability to brighten a space with his wit and sense of humor. He did not apologize for being who he was and was fiercely loyal to the people he loved. He never wavered from his convictions or his sense of what was right, and he dedicated his life to providing for his family. He had a significant impression on a lot of people and will be missed by a lot of relatives and friends all throughout Canada and the rest of the world.

Dr. Shannon Smith deserves special recognition for the kindness and care she has shown her patients. The cremation process has been completed. Rob expressed a desire to throw a party, thus a Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 12th from 4:30 to 7:30 pm at The Powerhouse, located at 21 Jones Street in Stoney Creek.
